In 2005, Inazawa left the band due to creative differences and the desire to form his own band, Vola And The Oriental Machine,
with former BuffaloGirl support drummer Atsushi Matsushita filling his role. In early 2007, Hinata left to pursue his work with
Straightener and a new project, and wasreplaced by Ichiro Yoshida. The band's recent work features prominent keyboards and
signals an even stronger divergence from the blazing post-hardcore that characterized Number Girl.
Zazen Boys are based at Mukai's Matsuri Studio, which has recorded most of the band's material, with the exception of Zazen
Boys 4, recorded byDave Fridmann in New York. Mukai also performs as a solo artist and in collaboration with other Japanese
