Traces

Traces are an Extreme Symphonic Metal band from the UK, formed by guitarist Dave James, bassist Daniel Scrivener and his brother James Scrivener on keys, and were shortly joined by Sam Greenland on drums. Traces are an Extreme Symphonic Metal band from the UK, formed by guitarist Dave James, bassist Daniel Scrivener and his brother James Scrivener on keys, and were shortly joined by Sam Greenland on drums. Taking influence from such bands as Wintersun, Dimmu Borgir and Emperor, the success of their demo track Vivisection managed to secure them a deal with Siege Of Amida Records in 2007 only a few months after their formation.

In early 2008 Traces were faced with the setback of losing both their vocalist and second guitarist, but near the end of the year a suitable replacement was found in Phil Wilson (Ex-Gorerotted/The Rotted). They recorded their debut EP at the end of the year, and in early 2009 found a replacement guitarist in Myk Barber.

After many delays ‘Reflections of a Forlorn Sun’ was released on 6th July, receiving 7/10 from Terrorizer Magazine: "With hell freezing over a more likely prospect than a new Wintersun album, those in search of a dose of technical wizardy should check out British metallers Traces. With the folk elements of Ensiferum, the orchestral, epic grandeur of Dimmu Borgir, and the eccentricity of Cradle of Filth, 'Reflections of a Forlorn Sun' is a polished debut".

Following the release Traces have played and toured with established bands such as Shining, Viatrophy, Man Must Die, and Abigail Williams, whilst compiling the material for the upcoming debut Album. Demos of songs for the album have been recorded and the band are making preparations for the long-anticipated album that will be sure to put them on the map as leaders in the Extreme Symphonic Metal scene. « hide
