Throwdown is a straight edge metalcore band which spawned from the OC hardcore punk and metal scene. They have
toured as part of Ozzfest, Sounds of the Underground and Warped Tour, as well as with bands like In Flames, Lamb of God,
As I Lay Dying, Norma Jean, Soulfly, and Hatebreed. The songs "Forever" and "Burn" have been staples on MTV2's

Keith Barney, now of Eighteen Visions, was the band's original vocalist. Former Eighteen Visions guitarist and current
Bleeding Through vocalist Brandan Schieppati was also a member of the group early on, though not an original member.
Schiepettati replaced Eighteen Visions bassist Javier Van Huss shortly before the band recorded their demo and "S/T" 7" for
Prime Directive Records. Indecision Records released the band's debut full-length album, "Beyond Repair." Shortly after
Dave Peters joined, on guitar, replacing Schieppati. The "Drive Me Dead" EP and a second album, "You Don't Have To Be
Blood To Be Family," followed. Throwdown began as a Straight Edge band and are still continuing to have songs and lyrics
based upon Straight Edge.
Trustkill Records signed the band shortly before the release of "Haymaker," the first album with Peters on vocals (and
Barney on guitar). The band recorded the album with a studio drummer as they had asked original member Mark Jackson to
leave. Matt Mently, who had filled in for Barney on several occasions, joined the group as an official member not long
before their slot on Ozzfest in 2004, with Dussault coming onboard before that landmark tour as well. Tommy Love (guitar)
became a part-time member for several months before officially leaving the band in December, 2004. In January of the
following year, the band -- Peters, Mentley, Dussault and bass player Dom Macaluso -- wrote a new album, "Vendetta,"
which they recorded with producer Zeuss (Shadows Fall) at his Planet Z studios. Choiniere joined the band in April, 2005, a
couple of months before the album's release. Macaluso, the band's sole remaining original member, left the band in
September, 2005 to join Diana Gone Wrong, with Mentley moving over the bass position a couple of months later. « hide |
