Theocracy, from Athens, Georgia, play a combination of epic melodic power metal with heavier leanings and progressive touches, best exemplified on the 22-minute title track to "Mirror of Souls". Their band name indicates Christianity, the chief theme of Theocracy's work.
Matt Smith layers his vocals to create a church choir-like effect, a Theocracy trademark. The debut album used as many as 70 vocal tracks at once! Further evidence of Matt's talent is that he made "Theocracy" all by himself.
Theocracy's music is some of the most accessible, easily likable, and simultaneously best, in the power metal world.
