The Skatalites are a nine piece traditional ska band. They are the most famous Jamaican ska band and hailing
fromJamaicagivestheir music a slight latin influence. The band never received much critical acclaim, but they are extremely
popularamongstfans ofreggae and even get some respect from fans of 3rd wave ska. Instruments such as the piano, trumpet,
trombone,tuba,andsaxophone all made their way into the music. The Skatalites also incorporated jazz, or swing into their music.
Theyhavereleasedaround 15 albums and have been playing tradional ska music since the 50's.
