Originally started out as a Metal/Hardcore band in 1989 by the Acher brothers Markus and Michael and then drummer Martin Messerschmidt, The
Notwist's fascinating evolution saw them transform into an indie-electronic act before the 2000s. This came to a peak with 1998's Shrink
and its critically-acclaimed follow-up, 2002's Neon Golden, thanks to the new addition of programmer Martin Gretschmann.
Messerschmidt would leave in 2007 to be replaced by Andi Haberl, with the band releasing their next album, The Devil, You + Me a year
later in 2008.
