The Nautilus

A superpowered progressive metal trio from Vancouver, BC. Churning out passages ranging from technical death metal and extreme hardcore, to sludge, post metal and jazz, the Nautilus strives to create a unique and savage tonal landscape in the realm of extreme music. Captivating a crowd in today's diversified and sub-genred music scene is a difficult task at best. The Nautilus has been doing just that to metal and hardcore fans since June 2012 with a live show that leaves audiences in bipolar fits of raging mosh pits and standing stock still, listening intently. That kind of energy doesn't just happen, however. It was cultivated over 2 years of diligent rehearsing and dozens of hours in front of guitar pro, always perfecting and refining. They began writing and rehearsing in fall 2010. Back then they were a 4-piece, and they parted ways amicably with one guitarist a year later. They are a 3-piece to this day. Combining main elements of progressive/sludge metal, technical death metal and mathcore, they have created a sound that is aggressive, technical and thick, yet also infused with the grit and passion of the hardcore bands that inspire them. Keeping to their progressive nature, and taking inspiration from bands like BTBAM who are unafraid to express any musical idea, they like to branch out into passages of varied genres, anything from post metal to musak to pop punk. Having already shared the stage with the likes of Fallujah, Gorod, Scale the Summit, Intronaut and The Ocean only a year and a half into their tenure in the Vancouver metal scene, The Nautilus are surfacing quickly like the legendary submarine of their name. Fans of Mastodon, BTBAM, The Faceless, Gojira, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Converge and Botch will definitely find something to enjoy in The Nautilus. « hide
