Monks

The Monks (officially written and called Monks) were an underground avant-garde band based in Germany. Around from 1965 until 1967, theyhadvery limited success initially, and went by virtually unnoticed for another two decades. Beginning in 1999, The Monks embarked on a fewsporadicreunion shows, and are now recognized as underground pioneers of sorts, specifically in the punk/post-punk and garage rock scenes, where artists likeHenry Rollins, The Fall, White Stripes, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion and the Dead Kennedys all cite The Monks as being aninfluence.
