Suicide is an American duo that was one component of the late 1970's punk scene on the Lower East Side of New York City, USA. The
bandconsists of Alan Vega and Martin Rev, who used farfisa organs, synthesizers, and drum machines to create their trademark sound. While
widelyunconsidered and largely disliked during their beginnings, their 1977 self-titled album is considered to be one of the most influential
albums ofthe punk movement and has influenced countless others, including R.E.M.. The grander influence of Suicide's electronic primitivism
can be heardin the later music movements of synth pop, techno, and industrial music.
