Spectrum (JPN)

Spectrum was a Japanese pop band that formed in 1979. It was formed by members of the groups MMP and Rock'n Roll Circus, the former best known for being the backup band for the cult idol group Candies. Presumably due to their association with Candies, Spectrum immediately after they formed became a major band when they signed to Victor Entertainment. Spectrum went on to release five albums in only a two year span, and managed to become quite popular for their technical disco-like sound and for their flamboyant costumes. In 1981, after just two years together, Spectrum announced their disbandment, and played their final live show that November at the iconic Budokan arena. Some of the members of Spectrum went on to join the supergroup AB's.
