In August 2002 Sparta's Debut LP "Wiretap Scars" is released. Though Sparta do not like it: The shadow, that ATDI created, still hangs heavy above them. According to Band-Leader Ward, the press tries to create competition between the follow up acts Sparta and The Mars Volta.

The second album "Porcelain", with music somewhere between Rock and Post-Hardcore pleases a lot of critics. The sound is much more mature, the style seems more perfect. Almost six weeks do Sparta spend in the dessert in the legendary Rancho de la Luna Studio in the small southern californian Joshua Tree and develop "Porcelain" in a relaxed atmosphere. The album was recorded live in the Sunset Studios in Los Angeles.

In May 2005 the band announces that Paul Hinojos leaves Sparta to join The Mars Volta as sound technician on their tour. He fills the gap that the tragic death of Jeremy Ward left. He is replaced by Keeley Davis, who played for Richmond, Virginia based groups Denali and Engine Down.

Sparta entered the studio to record the follow up to 'Porcelain' in March 2006, it has been named as Threes. « hide
