Small Hours Society consists of Apostolos Angos : guitar, lead vocals Iraklis Iosifidis : bass Dimitris Afeidis : drums Giannis Kratsiotis : accordion, piano, vocals Their sound lies well within the alternative spectrum and they choose to sing in English. Their first album “rest your wings/the skies await” dates back to 2006. In 2011 the band enters a hiatus while its members find themselves in search of new directions, experimenting on the production of original music based on new forms. The material that exists up until then is permanently put aside. Finally, in 2015, the band goes back into the recording studio with two new members on the drums and the accordion. The digital single “no relapse/hunting” comes out in May 2015 while the full album, entitled “hunting season”, follows in March 2016. The album roughly follows the events that take place in Greece between 2010-2015 and describes the individual’s disenchantment with reality and his attempt to change himself and his life while immersed in a mundane daily world that constantly draws him back. In terms of music there are no rigid frames. It ranges from indie pop (control) to noise rock (black to the core, river, the dare) and shows a distinct intension to elude classification under specific labels. And it seems that this, in turn, leads to a successful depiction of the time in which “hunting season” came into existence, a time of hunting and a time of contrast, opposition, conflict and antitheses. « hide
