Saving Litchfield

Antwerp, Ohio is known for very little (consider its population: 1,800!); but this is about to change with the impending EP release of rock band Saving Litchfield. Vocalist Tim Brown, bassist Jake North, drummer Steve Shull, and guitarists Joe Beregszazi and Wes Giancola met in high school in 2004 and have been performing across the Midwest ever since. However, it was one night at a Saving Litchfield show in Columbus that would change their music careers and perhaps lives forever. The first time that I saw Saving Litchfield play I knew that the band had something special about them, recalls Chad Weirick, the bands producer, manager and founder of Red Lotus Records the independent Ohio-based record label that signed Saving Litchfield in October 2007. With a slew of catchy songs and the same infectious energy that defined their live shows and unforgettable stage presence, the band began six weeks of pre-production before heading into the state of the art Earthwork Recording Studio. Saving Litchfield is the hardest working band I have met in the past several years. Their preparation, both arrangement and performance, has set a high bar for future projects, states Tom Atha, studio owner and engineer. Although the band spent a good amount of time preparing and dominating the recording process of Actions, they have basically been writing this EP ever since we all picked up our instruments, explains Shull. Much longer than the six weekends spent in the studio. But all the creative collaborations, sleepless nights, and constant commutes have finally paid off. All seven recorded songs will be released on the Actions EP on January 15, 2008. Already, the reaction (no pun intended) has been as noteworthy as the music behind it. Saving Litchfield has created an album that reflects their creativity, highlights their songwriting talents and throws guitars in your face while maintaining consistently catchy melodies, describes Atha. The bands first single is the fan favorite Baby I Said Fight, Fight, which tackles a situation many people face, especially in their adolescence. Mimicking the musics up-tempo beat, the song paints a picture of a party, at the end of the night, with the quiet onset of alcohol taking place and an inclination to get to know someone: When you came on to me your vision was blurred/What a dramatic way/Let me buy you a drink and we'll sing oh-oh-oh/Youre not leaving here alone. It can come off as a troubled relationship song, explains Brown. Although that is part of it, it has to do mostly with the alcohol that planted the seed for the relationship that was wrecked from the start. Additionally, the band makes note that in their lyrics comes the hope that their fans can relate to the songs, as well. I want Saving Litchfields music to have the same effect on other people as some my favorite bands and songs had on me, Brown says. Whether its a good music to cruise to or personal connection with a specific song I want to affect at least one person with our music. Begining January 2008, SL will launch a regional, followed by a national tour in support of the "Actions" EP. Its just another of many celebratory steps in the very direction this band aspires, and has been inspired, to take. Not only do they write great songs, but they are one of the hardest working bands out there, says Weirick. I think it comes through in their music and their kick ass live show. They are willing to lay it all out on the line for their dream. « hide
