From there on, RC Succession earned a reputation for their energetic performances and style of rock, which usually came with a glam-like image. RC Succession's flamboyant image can be considered to be a major precursor to the visual kei genre, which would skyrocket to fame about a decade later. This image change gave RC Succession a huge break, and by 1983, were among the very top bands in Japan. The group was so eventually popular, that RC Succession were widely regarded as the "Kings of Live" in their home country. However, in 1991, RC Succession made a surprising announcement that they were disbanding, after over two decades together as a band. Most of the members of the group remained active in the music scene, with the most well known name surfacing being charasmatic frontman Kiyoshiro Imawano, who became a true rock icon in Japan, and was ultimately dubbed the "King of Rock" in Japan. However, in 2009, Imawano tragically passed away from cancer. He was 58 years old. « hide
