Nenes are a Japanese folk group that formed in 1990. Initially consisting of Misako Koja, Yasuko Yoshida, Namiko Miyazato and
Yukino Hiyane, the group had a revolving-door lineup since 1997, with the last three original members, Yasuko Yoshida, Namiko
Miyazato and Yukino Hiyane, leaving in 1999. However, despite their constant lineup switches, Nenes are arguably one of
Japan's best selling folk groups in decades, and have toured globally as well, all across Europe, and once in New York City. Their
music even caught the ear of one of Japan's most influential artists, Ryuichi Sakamoto, and the two did a collaboration
together.
