Mothernight’s origin began in 2000 when a guitarist Deimos and a bassist/producer Gabriel decided to start a band during somebirthday party in Warsaw, Poland. Their idea was to mix best features of different music styles from metal to cold wave and gothic.Because it was not easy to find musicians that would share their enthusiasm and ideas, they began working on the material as atwo-piece. In the meantime they had been auditioning for new members, especially for a vocalist who was originally thought to bea man. When in the winter 2003 Berith joined the band on drums, several songs had already been completed and recorded withsession drummers. The material, however, did not contain any vocal lines. Around that time the two-piece hailed themselves asMothernight after Kurt Vonnegut, Jr’s book (Mother Night), a war story told by a Nazi propagandist who is an atrocious fiend and ahero at the same time. Later the idea of Mothernight was developed into a myth about female goddess – who is an adversary of thelight and safe haven for those who have fallen. « hide
