"Moonsorrow is a folk/viking metal influenced "Epic Heathen" dark metal band formed in Helsinki, Finland in 1995. Suden Uni (translated as "A Wolf's Dream") was acclaimed by the fans andthe reviews with its epic combination ofFinnish paganism and folk elements. After recruiting Mitja Harvilahti and Markus Eurén,Moonsorrow started their first shows, releasingVoimastaJa Kunniasta (Of Strength and Honour) in the late 2001. But the realtakeoff for the band was the 2003 release Kivenkantaja (Stonebearer).In2005 the band released their fifth album, Verisäkeet(Blood Verses).
In January 2006 the band played their first US show at the Heathen Crusade metalfest in Columbia Heights, MN.
Henri is also the keyboardist for Finntroll and a former session member of Ensiferum.
On the 7 March 2006, Moonsorrow announced on their official website that they have signed a 2-album contract withSpinefarm Records,and thattheir next album is slated for release in late 2006. On June 19 it was revealed that the upcomingalbum will feature guest vocals by ThomasVäänänen, the vocalist of Thyrfing. Sometime thereafterward there was anannouncement that the release of the album, titled Viides Luku -Hävitetty, was being delayed until January 10, 2007; thealbum leaked to the Internet sometime around December 11, 2006..
