Melon was an underground new wave band from Japan that formed in 1981. It seemed to have formed shortly after the disbandment of Plastics, which
one of their vocalists, Chika Sato, was a member of. Melon were acclaimed for their extremely unique blend of new wave, funk, R&B, electropop,
futurepop and mid 80's hip hop. In 1988, Melon disbanded, but reunited in 1996, and released their third full length album, "Shinjuku Blade Runner",
in 1997. The group unfortunately seemed to have folded once more immediately after its release, and have been apart ever since. Most of the

members went on to the similarly-named band Water Melon, which was notable for having an even more diverse sound. In 2008, however, Water
