After four years of touring their home country of Sweden, the band went on hiatus, with Cans and Elmgren going onto be part of HammerFall. In 1999, Lost Horizon was born out of the ashes of Highlander, and Lisicki, Furangen and Nyqvist gave themselves new personas that befitted their quest to save metal, and the world.
