Logic, born Sir Robert Bryson Hall II on January 22, 1990, is an American hip-hop artist hailing from Maryland. At 20 years old, he is
gradually solidifying his presence in the hip-hop community.
All types of music influenced Logic while he grew up. His mother is a writer born in DC, and his father, who is also a DC native, is a
singer/percussionist for a genre of music known in his area as go-go.
Raised by a single mother, Logic turned to music early as an escape from negative situations that occurred around him. He started writing
poetry at the age of 15, and also began rapping, slowly sharpening his skills and branding his unique style of flow mixed with intellectual
lyrics. Floating from studio to studio over the next few years he grew frustrated because producers would try to make him rap about certain
subjects that were fictional or rap a certain way that just wasn’t him. So, he learned how to engineer on his own in his room and began
producing, writing, recording and mixing his own music.
Logic is the definition of independent. Groups and artists such as the Wu Tang Clan, Nas, Big L, Tupac, The Notorious B.I.G., Kanye West,
Jay-Z, Mos Def, The Roots and many other hip-hop artists first inspired this young up and comer. But, shortly after finding his roots within
the wise words of his idols, he turned to the new school, studying where hip-hop was headed and how he could fit in. After a while Logic
realized he didn’t quite fit in so much and decided not to conform, but to be himself, which was an “artist” and everything that encompassed
that word. He chose not to be bound by what television or radio deemed worthy of the spotlight, and focus on strictly making music.
After finding his groove, 5 years and 450 songs in, he realized he had waited long enough and had grown enough as an artist to release his
music to the world with his debut mixtape "Young, Broke & Infamous", which came out on December 17, 2010. « hide |
