Formed in 2009 in Canada by enigmatic and "snake-eyed" vocalist Kobra Paige, Kobra and the Lotus always seemed to have their sights set on one goal: "To avoid being limited to sub-genres and playing pure, solid Metal". The band released their debut album "Out of the pit" in 2010 featuring a cover of Motorhead's "Ace of spades", and raising a bit of hype amongst Canadian metal fans. However, it wasn't until 2011, when the band started working on their second self-titled album, that KISS bassist Gene Simmons discovered them, consequently signing them to his and Universal's own record label. The band signed, and carried on working on their second album, released later in August 2012. In the very same month the band performed at their first international festival at Bloodstock Open Air, opening on the main stage and now winning over fans all over the world as well as in their native Canada. They later did an acoustic set of songs devoted to the late Ronnie James Dio, covering songs by Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Deep Purple amongst others. The band have since gone from strength to strength in both live performances and worldwide popularity, and are currently said to be planning a world headlining tour. « hide |
