"Great songs, tight musicianship, and explosive live performances are the foundations of Staten Island, NYC-based Julius C, who have taken the east coast by storm. The band met at NYU in 2004, and began to build a devoted local following as buzz spread about their amazing live shows at venues such as the Knitting Factory and Crash Mansion among others. In 2006, they were crowned "the best band in NYC" by the Emergenza International Music Competition, and were put on the "Emergenza B.E.S.T." tour later that spring. They played for sold out crowds around the northeast at over 30 dates, and made a huge dent into many local scenes. Their self-produced EP, "Julius C Says" is a raucous, all night party that weaves in and out of classic rock, funk, and soul, while still sounding undeniably fresh. They have distributed nearly 10,000 copies of this EP, due in part to a sponsorship by PUMA for their 2007 summer camp tour. They are currently in the studio working on new material that they are confident will destroy the boundaries of what a single band is "allowed" to do in today's music industry. They know that no matter how diverse their material is, it is still indubitably "Julius C". Now fully established on the NYC music scene, Julius C has accomplished more than many independent bands can hope for, including self producing their EP, two trips to SXSW in Texas, playing showcases at CMJ in NYC and at Atlantis in Atlanta, GA, being named the #1 band in NYC by the Emergenza Music Competition, playing tons of shows around the east coast and even in Canada, and playing summer camp tours three years and counting.
