Forming in 1992, the London-based group Jamiroquai, led by charismatic (read: eccentric) frontman Jay Kay, quickly became the most famous
of the acid jazz acts. The band has since branched out into other directions, however, keeping their sound fresh and original. Touches of disco,
rock, pop and even Aboriginal didgeridoo music (indeed, the original lineup featured a didge player) pervade their style.
The band has to date sold over 20 million albums worldwide. This is testament to both the immediate pop accessibility of their music and the
intense instrumental skill showcased in the funky guitar, tight bass & trap grooves, and 80's disco string arrangements of Jay's songs.
