Born in 1951, James Newton Howard is an Academy-Award nominated film composer. After touring with Elton John as a keyboardist in the late '70s and early '80s, he began scoring movies. Howard has composed the score towards every M. Night Shamylan film. In recent times, he has made musical collaborations with Hans Zimmer for Christopher Nolan's Batman Trilogy, which have proved to be highly successful for each composer. He is known for his simple brooding tones, and lush string arrangements, akin to those of James Horner.
