The story of Jackson C. Frank is likely to be one of the saddest you will come across amongst musicians. Moving to England at 18 with the insurance money resulting from the fire to persue a singer-songwriting career in the 60's, he inspired many fellow musicians, and his most well-known song, "Blues Run The Game", became a standard on the 60's London folk circuit.

Frank only recorded one album during his lifetime. When sharing a house with singer-songwriters Paul Simon and Al Stewart, he played his songs to Simon, who was so impressed by them he used the money he had recieved from royalties for the album "Wednesday Morning, 3AM" to produce Frank's only album. This album is noteworthy not only for the astonishing songs contained within it, but also for the fact that it features the first recording of a young Al Stewart on the song "Yellow Walls", playing 12-string guitar, and for the fact that it was recorded in the remarkably short time of three hours. « hide
