Halls Tainted Red Halls Tainted Red (HTR) is a one-man band from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Fronted by LeGrand Haughton, who composes songs in Technical Death Metal stylings. This genre of music is best recognized by its brutal sound and high technical skill required of musicians who play. Halls Tainted Red's music is written and performed exclusively by Legrand. A drum machine handles the percussive and bass sections of the music, while LeGrand plays the guitar and sings. The music combines highly technical aspects of the death metal gerne : blast beats on drums, death growl vocals, and fast alternate picking on the guitar. In the summer of 2009 and 2010 LeGrand played shows to promote the release of HTRs first album, Mind of a Gentlemen. One of which was played at the Crocodile Rock in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Halls Tainted Red formed from the fallout of Dawn of Awakening in the summer of 2007. Legrand and bassist Rio Prisco were still on good terms, and the two formed Halls Tainted Red. Still in need of a rhythm guitarist, Legrand anG Rio recruited mutual friend Keith Jaibur. After some scheduling issues with Rio, Keith and LeGrand continued practicing together. Soon enough they found long sought after drummer Joe Krawczyk. The trio also recruited former Dawn of Awakening vocalist Derek Green. Practices commenced every weekend at Joe's house through the fall of 2007. Various lineup changes followed after the sessions at Joe's house. Keith stuck with the band as Halls Tainted Reds sideman, filming live videos and doing technical work. LeGrand and Derek kept HTR going for the next 2 years, going through various drummers and bassists. In the summer of 2009 LeGrand started experimenting with writing his own drum beats in FL Studio. This ultimately resulted in Legrand and Derek going into the studio and recording a 2 song EP: Crunchy! Like a Bag of Chips. In the months following the first EP, LeGrand purchased a drum machine and started writing all of HTRs guitar parts and rhythm sections. This resulted in highly technical guitar and drum work. Finally Legrand decided to also write lyrics for his guitar and drum compositions and work on screaming techniques. With a selection of songs finalized by winter 2009, LeGrand began the first Mind of a Gentlemen recording sessions. A handful of songs were finished, but the sessions were put on hold in January; LeGrand's father had passed away. By the time summer 2010 hit a few more polished songs had been written. Halls Tainted Red was also asked to play the Campfire Sessions in upstate New York. This was a three day tour, with the final show at Niagra Falls. LeGrand took this opportunity to flesh out the previously recorded tracks and a few new surprises to his New York fan base. Following the Campfire Sessions, another show opportunity presented itself at the Crocodile Rock in Allentown, PA. This was Halls Tainted Red's final show in the Summer of 2010 to promote Mind of a Gentlemen's release. Following his performances in New York and Allentown, LeGrand went into the studio once more to finnish the Mind of a Gentlemen sessions. New tracks were added and finishing touches were put on the winter recording session. « hide
