Ground Zero was formed in the year 1990 by power jazz mastermind Otomo Yoshihide, with bassist Hideki Kato. With a large and ever changing lineup, Ground Zero successfully and effectivly explored many sounds including soft ambient textures, harsh noise, and avant-jazz. Through an amalgamation of unique sampling techniques, accoustic instrumentation and electronics, Ground Zero produced a seminal sound which could be described as fucking awesome. Otomo Yoshihide disbanded Ground Zero in the year 1998 after the release of their final album, Last Concert.
