The Northern California music scene declined in the recent years. Bands have lost that desire to include creativity and settle for a generic sound. Goodmorning Gunfight was produced as a means to provide a different musical output for the over. emphasized brutality and excessive breakdowns. The band is well aware that they are playing music to a scene that has specific preferences and biases in their tastes of music. What GMGF is not limited to one specific genre, but a tasteful fusion of many. The chaotic riffs, pop-influenced choruses and progressive melodies provide vast amounts of possibilities in musical direction.

Goodmorning Gunfight started in the Fall of 2010 with a relentless work ethic and a passion for music. Since their inception, GMGF has been writing and working nonstop towards a common goal: to spread the word to those who will take it in. The distinct characteristic of the band is the incorporation of three guitarists. The misconception with so many guitarists is the belief that they may produce generic breakdowns and tasteless guitar harmonies. Instead, they use the concept to their advantage; incorporating ambient, atmospheric leads over strong rhythmic melodies.

Their current single, "Skin Like Paper, Bones Like Glass" was recorded in the winter of 2010 with the help of Gilroy-based recording engineer Dr. Ben. Despite the straightforward song structure, the painstaking process of mixing various genres are helpful for the sound GMGF is looking for.

In May 2011, guitarist Angelo Florendo and Goodmorning Gunfight decided to go their separate ways. In September 2011, Roy Harrison was asked to leave the band due to creative differences.

Despite the abrasive lineup changes within the first year of this band's history, Goodmorning Gunfight plans to change the pace of their music coming back stronger than ever. They are currently writing for a release in the summer of 2012 and plan on playing some shows in between to give fans a hint of things to come.
