Gong is a Space/Canterbury Rock group formed in 1968 in Paris, France by the Australian guitarist Daevid Allen and his wifeGilli Smyth. Theband's
music features a synthesis of Jazz style improvisation, rock rythms, and lyrics tied closely topsychedelia.
The band played at the first Glastonbury Festival, and was one of the first acts to sign to Virgin Records, getting first pick ofstudio time aheadof Mike
Oldfield.
