Giles turned to songwriting in his early twenties during recovery from a battle with serious mental illness. The resulting demos, recorded in his bedroom on a four-track tape recorder, found their way to the ears of respected producer Tim Oxley (Roger Loves Betty). Invited to record in Oxley's home studio, the result was the debut album, 'Too Many Love Songs.' Now Giles returns to his roots with his second record '...tells a story' a concept album about love and life in Melbourne. Giles' raw almost-punk acoustic guitar style is the trademark of these home recordings, unadorned and full of emotion. Drawing on a wide array of influences from the wit and lyricism of Paul Kelly and Darren Hanlon to the pop of Roxette and 60s garage rock it contains the lead track 'If Melbourne Was A Lady.' Giles continues to stamp himself on the Australian scene with support from local radio play on community radio and a growing live reputation as a solo acoustic act. « hide
