Garbage

One of the most prominent bands of the 90s alternative rock scene, Garbage formed in Madison, Wisconsin in 1994. Though the musicians were American, it was Scottish vocalist Shirley Manson who became the face of the band and along with such artists as Alanis Morrissette, Fiona Apple and Sarah McLachlan helped usher in a new rock movement in which females were dominant. The group is still together over ten years after they first made it big, and are surprisingly as popular and critically respected as ever. Absolute Garbage, a greatest hits album, was released in mid-2007.
