Foovius Bar

Foovius Bar is the alter ego of musician-writer D.S. Benson (dsbenson.com). His work spans multiple genres, including progressive-tinged electronica, folk, pop rock, alt-country and humor. Although this makes his work rather hard to pindown, most of his music has a playful, homemade quality despite the frequent involvement of computers. Foovius Bar is the alter ego of musician-writer D.S. Benson (dsbenson.com). His work spans multiple genres, including progressive-tinged electronica, folk, pop rock, alt-country and humor. Although this makes his work rather hard to pindown, most of his music has a playful, homemade quality despite the frequent involvement of computers. His lyrics arefrequently satirical and take on "unreliable narrator" personas similar to the work of Randy Newman.

One of his albums, The Fooviron Assembly, is all instrumental electronica, with a retro pop sampled sound mixed with afew electroacoustic instruments (acoustic treated guitars, rock guitars). Another, Neon Bus God, is a mixture of pop songs,often satirical, that spans alt-rock, odd pop, folk and even mocking takes on crossover country and bluegrass.

Back in college he released a sketch comedy album on LP (a form which has since made a small comeback—the LP that is, not sketch comedy): The Secret Files, by Master Martian Broadcast Company.
