Fear is a punk band started in 1977 from LA. The members claimed they weren't punks but the punk scene was exploding and they were musicians. Lee Ving, their lead singer was an aspiring actor. A few of the band members went to community college to learn "formal music", and upon forming it was jokingly claimed they were going to be the first punk band with talent. What makes their band what they are is that they were quirky and sarcastic and insult their audience.
In one noctorious incident, they were invited onto SNL thanks to John Belushi, a fan of Fear. Afterwards, SNL stopped hosting punk acts.
