The FLUX Quartet is an American string quartet, based in New York City and dedicated to the performance of contemporary classical music. It
was founded in 1998 and shot to prominence in 2002 with its recording of Morton Feldman's 'String Quartet No. 2'.
Strongly influenced by the irreverent spirit and "anything-goes" philosophy of the fluxus art movement, violinist Tom Chiu founded FLUX in the
late 90's. The quartet has since cultivated an uncompromising repertoire that follows neither fashions nor trends, but rather combines
yesterday's seminal iconoclasts with tomorrow's new voices. - As seen on the FLUX bio page, 2016.
