One of many collaborations between The Mars Volta guitarist, Omar Rodriguez-Lopez, and Mexican singer, Ximena
Sariñana, Ciencia de los Inutiles was released on February 2010 through the private record label of Rodriguez-Lopez.
Rather than working with members of The Mars Volta, Rodriguez-Lopez hired bassist Aaron Cruz Bravo to work with him
and his girlfriend on this new project. Ciencia de los Inutiles features an interesting transition in sound, incorporating a
musical style that has never really been explored by Omar Rodriguez-Lopez. The album has a very gentle folk sound that is
comprised of mostly acoustic instruments, with very little electronic components.
