Da Weasel

Da Weasel was a portuguese hip-hop band. In the begining, they were a 100% english hip-hop project, under influence of sub-genres like Hard Rock and Thrash, as described by the members. They released their first EP 'More Than 30 Motherf***ers' in 1994. A year later, 'Dou-lhe Com a Alma' would be released, with portuguese being the first language. Since then, they released the albuns '3º Capítulo', 'Iniciação A Uma Vida Banal - O Manual', 'Podes Fugir Mas Não Te Podes Esconder' (in which they showed a clear Reggae influence), 'Re-Definições' and 'Amor, Escárnio e Maldizer'. Many of these obtained platium or gold certifications. The band won twice (in 2004 and 2007) The Best Portuguese Act on MTV Europe Music Awards. Their lyrics touched themes like social injustices, love, seduction games, sex. They were also noted for their energetic and dynamic live performances. The band broke up in 2010, with no public explanations.
