Cobra is a breakthrough Japanese punk rock band. Formed in 1981, they are one of the earliest oi-influenced bands
inJapan.They are also one of the first true punk bands to capture mainstream attention, with their highest-peaking album
being1990's"Captain Nippon", which reached number 6 on the Oricon charts. Cobra initially split in 1991, but reformed in 1999
tohumongousfanfare. The group, once again, split in 2005, but then soon reformed once more in 2007. Since 2012,
however,Cobra havebeen disbanded.
