Signed to Hardcore Beats, CTRL-Z are a nu skool breakz production duo hailing from London. Tom Petais and Nicky D'Silva aka Dash and Inch met through the Community Music Program in London. The pairing up of these two DJs by their tutor was to be the start of something special and their first CTRL-Z production was unleashed. Snapped up by DJ Mutiny's Funkatech Recordings, 'Disko' and 'Pain' made up the debut single that was to cause a big splash in the breaks Scene. Straight to number 1 in the Mixmag Chart and straight into the boxes of the Breakbeat elite, this dancefloor bomb paved the way for a busy 1st year for the duo. Now with ten releases and remixes under their belts on respected labels such as 777 and Hardcore beats, CTRL-Z have had support from some of the biggest players in the scene, such as The Freestylers, Tayo, Aquasky, Deekline , Breakfastaz, Skool of Thought..the list goes on…Radio Support has seen CTRL-Z tracks on Both Radio 1 and Kiss Fm as well as pretty much every specialist station around. The duo are rapidly becoming known for their energetic DJ sets which have rocked floors at nights such as Innovation, Raindance, Best of British, Payload and Brace yourself , and have taken them to Spain as headlining Acts. As well as regular gigs, CTRL-Z can be heard smashing up the airwaves on both the Double Award Winning stations Pyrotechnicradio.com and Breaksfm.com. Hotly Tipped by Breakspoll as "the next BIG thing" , CTRL-Z show no signs of slowing down over the next year. A tour of America, Gigs in UK and Europe and a lot more bass fuelled Remixes and Singles. Watch out! London based Chris Bishop, better known as tear-out master-don Screwface, signed to the seminal Hardcore Beats label in 2005, after Ollywood heard his debut, the anthemic 'King Of The Bongo'. A track that was instantly snapped up by all the breakbeat A-listers, and still holds a firm place in many boxes today. Since then Chris has fast-gained a reputation for consistently delivering Breakbeat monsters of a rather large nature, having gone on to produce tracks with The Autobots, including the huge hits 'Apocalypse' and 'Burn' (which featured the legendary MC Navigator). Both tracks were championed by the Breakbeat scene and beyond (in particular Radio One's Zane Lowe and Fatboy Slim, who rocked a crowd of 30,000 at the end of his Tribal Gathering set and has since licensed 'Burn' for his new DVD). Chris has also been receiving great attention for his work with Dash of CTRL-Z fame, 'Kung-Fu Funk' and 'Stereo: Typical' are just two examples of this exciting partnership. Together, they have pushed the envelope and challenged the way people perceive the Breakbeat sound. They are currently working on an album, under a new, yet-to-be-unveiled moniker, for release on HB at the end of 2007. Don't worry, Chris isn't an artist who needs another producer to hold his hand, his 'Phat Bass/Monte' single was the biggest selling Hardcore Beats release of 2005 and 'The Day the Earth Stood Still' from the label's recent Hardwired album (mixed by CTRL-Z and Screwface, nominated for Best Compilation at Breakspoll 2007) is doing just as well. Not only a major talent in the studio, he also smashes up dances on a weekly basis, headlining gigs all around the UK, Europe and the USA. There is bound to be much more in store as Chris has managed to achieve all of this by the ripe-old age of 21! (makes me sick - editor). « hide
