Brand-new Idol Society (also known as BiS, however, is listed under their full name to avoid confusion with the Scottish indie
pop group) are a Japanese alternative metal/pop group that formed in 2010. They are best known for their rebellious "anti-idol"
image, including over-the-top sexually explicit attire (or sometimes none at all), blood splatters in their promo shots and smoking
in their promo shots (which, in Japan, is looked down upon among young "idols"). They are also well known for their unique
sound, which blends sheer pop with heavy metal riffs. One can think of Babymetal for comparison, only Brand-new Idol Society
(or BiS) tend to be a lot more explicit and tongue-in-cheek. The group ended up briefly splitting in 2014, but reunited in 2016,
after only two years apart.
