Formed in London in 1989 as Seymour, Blur began as a psychedic pop band much in the same vein as the Stone Roses andother'Madchester' groups. Despite being permanent fixtures on the British pop scene for fifteenyears now,Blur only received one brief break in the American market, with the release of the massive anthem "Song 2" in 1997.The grouptook a early in the new decade as vocalist Damon Albarn masterminded the hip-hop group the Gorillaz.
