Big Sugar was a Canadian alternative/blues rock band formed in 1991 in Toronto, Ontario. The band was fronted by Gordie Johnson, with bassist Garry Lowe and tenor saxophonist Kelly Hoppe being the longest standing members in a somewhat revolving line of musicians. The band played an alternative rock style that heavily relied on blues, reggae and jam band influences. Big Sugar released 7 studio recordings and 3 EPs before breaking up in 2004.
