Big L, born Lamont Coleman, rose to be one of the most highly respected underground rappers of his time.
He was a member of the legendary hip-hop crew D.I.T.C. (Diggin' in the Crates). He released Lifestylez ov da Poor and Dangerous on Columbia
Records in 1995. He was widely regarded as one of the most promising up and coming MC's but was gunned down February 15, 1999 near his
home in Harlem when he was confused for his brother. His second solo album, The Big Picture was released in 2000 posthumously.
