Better Days

Fast. Aggressive. Energetic. Posi. Sincere. Five words that clearly define St. Louis, Missouri's Better Days. After one listen, you may find yourself reminiscing about the glory days of hardcore punk. Better Days does this by drawing influences from bands like Gorilla Biscuits, Good Riddance, 7 Seconds, and Lifetime. No glitz or glamour with this band, just plenty of grit and sweat. So, put the needle on the record and feel what it's like to spend a muggy Friday night at a South St. Louis basement show.

Fast. Aggressive. Energetic. Posi.

Formed in 2010, Better Days self released a demo cassette and CD-R called "Songs About Drinking". Fast forward a few years, and you'll find this band playing countless shows locally and regionally. Better Days has shared the stage with greats like Naked Raygun, MxPx, Toys That Kill, The Arrivals, and more. In November of 2012, Encapsulated Records released the band's debut EP "Good Luck Tonight" on Green 7" vinyl with screen printed jackets. The Riverfront Times gave Better Days the "Best Punk Band" in St. Louis award and a nomination for "Best Punk Band" at their yearly RFT Music Festival. Be sure to catch Better Days on tour or in St. Louis at a dive bar, dingy basement, or venue stage near you.

"Better Days' music has an urgency to it that seems to plead with a world-gone-mad that surrounds it to stop, take a deep breath and remember all the reasons life ain't so bad. After all, there are good friends, good times and great music. Staffed by a who's who list of St. Louis hardcore and punk scene veterans (including former members of To No End, the Requiem, Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting, and about a thousand more), the band has been playing its high-energy mix of Gorilla Biscuits-meets-Saves the Day-style hardcore punk since January of 2010, turning the usually bleak-and-angry posturing of the local scene on its head with unending positivity and some damn good music. Its upcoming debut seven-inch Good Luck Tonight will be released this summer on St. Louis's venerable I Hate Punk Rock Records; make sure you don't miss the boat.. -- Daniel Hill, Music Editor of The Riverfront Time.

"You were just about to give up on the hardcore-punk scene in St. Louis. You had grown tired of the perceived elitism, the tough-guy posturing, the cramped basement venues and dive bars. As far as you were concerned, the diamonds had finally been overtaken by the rough, and you were ready to move on. Then you heard Better Days, and in an instant you were swept back to a simpler time, as if the name itself had transportive properties, as if that name was prophetically speaking directly to you, reminding you of all the reasons you fell in love with punk rock in the first place. You dusted off your old Gorilla Biscuits and Kid Dynamite records and got reacquainted and reawakened. Now all you can think about is faded stickers on skateboards, epic stage dives from speaker stacks and nights spent out raising hell with your friends. You should probably thank Better Days at its next show, where you will be standing front and center, grinning ear-to-ear and singing along to every word." -- The Riverfront Times: Best Of St. Louis 2012 issue « hide
