Though born in Iran, Ali was raised in India, where the arts and culture would come to influence her greatly. Unrest in the Middle East would force a further move, this time to the United States in 1985. Her interest in music formed in America, where she would first gain proficiency playing the hammered dulcimer before focusing on her vocal work, for which she is best known. Her ethereal and versatile voice lends itself well to performing a wide range of musical styles. Coupled with her ability to play many stringed and percussion instruments, her career continues to grow rapidly. « hide
