American fingerstyle guitarist.
Andy McKee started playing guitar when he was 13 years old. His first main influences were heavy metal bands such as Metallica, Pantera
and Dream Theater. He got into the acoustic guitar after seeing an inspiring performance by Preston Reed. The artists that influence his
compositional style are; Michael Hedges, Don Ross, Billy McLaughlin and Preston Reed.

uses Dean Markley Alchemy Gold/Bronze medium gauge. He often experiments with altered tunings.
Andy McKee is mainly a self-taught guitarist. He never studied music at a formal level (e.g. University), but has had a few electric guitar
lessons early on. Through those lessons and self-study, he picked up knowledge about chord construction and scales and modes.
He is most famous the YouTube video of him playing his song “Drifting” live. It has garnered over 32,000,000 views worldwide.
