Aloe Blacc

Aloe Blacc (Born 1979 as David Patrick Neil James Wash-Lovell) is an American soul singer, rapper, and musician. He began his career in 1995 as an MC in an indie rap duo called Emanon. By the end of the 1990s, Blacc was a "stowaway" on a Lootpack tour in Europe.

In 2003, he started a Solo career and released his debut EP in the same year. He released his debut album in 2006 entitled Shine Through and was released by Stones Throw Records. His second album, ""Good Things" was also released by Stones Throw Records in 2010. The first single off his second album, "I Need a Dollar" was widely successful across Europe peaking top five in five countries and top forty in four others.

In 2010 Epic Records A&R Jo Charrington confirmed that Blacc had signed with Epic for the UK and Ireland. Where his album "Good Things" was realesed there later in the year, as so was his single, "I Need A Dollar", Later on in 2010, His song "I Need A Dollar" is the intro song for the HBO show How to Make It in America, and was featured as the iTunes Single of the Week and he has performed the song live on December 17, 2010 on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon, Britain's Later... with Jools Holland, and on Conan. "I Need A Dollar" is also one of the featured songs in EA Sports' 2011 boxing game, Fight Night Champion. In April, 2011, the song has also been featured in a commercial for Boost Mobile cellular phone services.

Both of his albums contains elements of jazz, R&B, soul, and hip hop.

He recorded a cover version of the John Legend song "Ordinary People" in Spanish entitled "Gente Ordinaria". Aloe Blacc wrote the song "At All" for Lena Meyer-Landrut's album Good News after meeting the German singer backstage at a TV show. « hide
