Alabama is arguably the most successful country music group of all time, collecting some 40 number one singles
in their existance. They formed in 1977 in Ft. Payne, AL and renamed themselves after their home state two years
later. Through some hard times which included addiction and a creative slump in the late 1980's, they stayed
together until their retirement in 2003. They do have a festival each year in Ft. Payne where they meet fans and
do a special concert, and will most likely do so for a long time to come.
