Founding members Trevor Reilly, Nuno Pereira and Nick Angelini have never focused on image or success, however success seems to have found them. With several releases on notable labels Jump Start Records and Nitro Records they have been nothing if not prolific. Their hard work and aggressive/non-traditional song writing has earned them the respect of many internationally successful bands.
They have had a relentless tour history doing support tours throughout US/Canada, Europe and Australia as well as headlining tours in every state/province in North America and in venues overseas that span from Russia to Tasmania in support of their 2007 release Career Suicide(Nitro Records). Within this ongoing endeavor, AWS has recruited the talents of Brian Robinson (bass) and Mike Supina (guitar); Two Great-Lakers who have strived to help develop the band into the most musically-diverse lineup they've had to date.
Hailed by Alternative Press as the heirs to the skate-punk throne, A Wilhelm Scream cannot truly be lumped in with any of those bands. Their music is progressive, thrashy and melodic and cannot be confined to any single genre. The band has returned to their home of New Bedford, MA to self-record/produce a new self-titled EP for budding digital and vinyl label Paper + Plastick.
The decision to record the EP themselves came as a sort of revelation to the band. Guitarist Trevor Reilly said, "We recorded and produced each others' sessions, and the process allowed us to reconnect creatively with each other in a writing structure unique to each of us, strengthening a bond that was iron solid to begin with. We worked really hard on it to reach our own standard so our fans will respond and come out to the shows and guarantee us a party every night..
The 5 song EP will be mixed by Matt Bayles at Red Room Recording (Polar Bear Club, Minus the Bear, Mastodon) in Seattle. It will be released later this year by Paper + Plastick and feature artwork by Derek Deal. Following the release, the band will once again tour heavily all over North America, the United Kingdom, Europe, Australia and Japan.
