An experimental band from Chicago that toured relentlessly during their existence all over the Midwest and nation-wide sporadically. Consisting of drums, bass guitar and saxophone, STLJ played catchy, interesting post-rock which was largely instrumental but did include some sparse vocals. Their musical style stressed rhythm much more than melody, and struck myself as a less abrasive and repetitive Shellac. The tightness of the band through pauses, time changes and time shifts was a strength of the band, both recorded and live. Truly a band that needs to be remembered.
