Negura Bunget
Black Metal

Negură Bunget first appeared in the underground Romanian black metal scene in 1995, with the formation of a duo named Wiccan Rede, with Hupogrammos Disciple's on guitars/vocals/keyboards and Negru on drums. In 1996 Sol'Faur Spurcatu joined the group on bass guitar.

After two years of live performances, Wiccan Rede released a debut album showcasing their primitive, atmospheric style of black metal. A scattering of demos followed, and then an official mini-album in 1998 under the Negură Bunget name. Negură Bunget means, "black foggy forest" in archaic Romanian.

Three more full-length albums followed - Măiastru Sfetnic, 'N Crugu Bradului and OM - drawing heavily on the Transylvanian spirituality of their home country. The success of Maiastru Sfetnic secured the band a three-album deal with the respected 'code666 record' label. Now reaching a wider audience, they began their first European tours.

'N Crugu Bradului (the band's first album with code666) included four songs spanning a total of 53 minutes, aimed at capturing the essence of traditional Transylvanian spirituality in black metal. The album is ranked as one of the bands crowning achievements, receiving acclaimed reviews from the metal community and in international reviews in Chronicles of Chaos, Ablaze, Ablazine, Ledo and Eternity.

In 2006 Negură Bunget released OM, which continues their conceptionalised approach to black metal and progressive music. The album also includes an extensive DVD which covers live material and interviews with the band.
